TTIP Threatens To Poison You!

This week I received the e-mail regarding the food issue related to TTIP and it made me freak,at the first place.Unfortunately, this is not the spoof video regarding the government allowing tax free zones to all big companies.Take this seriously because this, unlike some of the other programmes is going to affect you DIRECTLY.

War on Want and UNISON have produced a powerful short film on the threat that TTIP poses to our health.

Death on a plate: TTIP, meat inspections and your food features the testimony of a mother whose daughter died from eating contaminated meat and comments by a government meat inspector and others in the food industry.

The Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership, or TTIP, is currently being negotiated by the EU and the USA. As part of the trade deal, the EU wants to end port inspections of imported meat products – even when lives are threatened by new outbreaks of BSE, e-coli, salmonella, and other fatal diseases.
The EU is also planning to end independent meat inspections in Britain and other European countries, despite fears this will lead to new outbreaks of food poisoning and thousands of food-related deaths.

  1. Sadly many of these campaigns appear to be popping up, rather one-eyed, loudly shouted claims of problems without showing how and where they directly relate to the TTIP.

Trade agreements like TTIP are negotiated in private, over many years, when the negotiators finally reach agreement then the deals are taken by relevant governments to their national political decision making process to be approved - or rejected.

The anti-trade agreement campaigns appear to make small selections from very large agreements, then rather than seeking better explanations re their concerns, they call for all expected benefits to be rejected.

The approach is similar to that adopted by anti-immunization campaigners.
The anti vaccine campaigners argue because a small group either does not wish to be immunized, or may be in small group at risk of immunization related negative severe reactions, they call for all immunization to be stopped; Yet when IF thousands are not vaccinated, then tens of thousands risk suffering sever reactions due infectious illness caused by resulting lower levels of immunization.
