It was eight o'clock the next day when his Excellency the Head of State and Generalissimo Franco, victorious leader of the Army , Navy and Air Force , was in his private office . He stroked a tattered goose brought from Salamanca, where he had been used to sign hundreds of death sentences . No longer did he use it for that need , but he liked to keep it. Now he signed a document with a German Führer gift pen and wrote in his own hand the ultimate order : execution , or club . Also it decided what should be publicized about executions to serve as derision. The General was a ruthless man and possessed the cruelty that enthralled him in its starkest form.The killing machine worked tirelessly and the fifth commandment, " Thou shalt not kill " was replaced by " will kill with justice" to justify the institutionalized repression!

Eran las ocho de la mañana del día siguiente cuando su Excelencia el Jefe del Estado y Generalísimo Franco, Victorioso Caudillo de los Ejércitos de Tierra, Mar y Aire, se encontraba en su despacho privado. Acariciaba una raída pluma de ganso traída de Salamanca, donde había sido utilizada para firmar cientos de condenas a muerte. Ya no la usaba para tal menester, pero le gustaba conservarla.

Ahora las firmaba con una pluma alemana regalo del Führer y escribía de su puño y letra el enterado y el método: fusilamiento o garrote. También decidía qué ejecuciones debían ser publicitadas para que sirvieran de escarnio. El General era un hombre implacable hasta la crueldad que recurría a la violencia más descarnada. La máquina de matar trabajaba sin descanso y el quinto mandamiento «No matarás» fue sustituido por «Matarás con justicia» para justificar la represión institucionalizada.
