Song Review + Video : 'Daddy You Been On My Mind' by Joan Baez

It has been a long time since I had worked with Music or anything conventionally artistic.I think the last time I tried photography was in June,on the day of solstice this year (21st June) but after that I got so involved with my education and related activities, that it might have seemed I went out of touch, totally. However,I am still getting followed by musicians and other renowned people (this time it was Ken Caillat,Sean Beeson among musicians and composers and Darren Kavinoky, the criminal lawyer who hosts 'Deadly Sins' on Investigations Discovery who followed me on Twitter!),so there is no use trying to stay aloof from my involvement with music.
Today I put in a lot of effort after I returned home from a Maths tuition (and learning my scores of the last test and the test that was conducted today itself!) to create this video and write up this review in the short duration of time I get for blog work on weekends.Click on 'Read More' to read the detailed song review.

Daddy You Been On My Mind Lyrics
(Credit : www.azlyrics.com)

Perhaps it's the colour of the sun cut flat
And covering the crossroads I'm standing at
Or maybe it's the weather or something like that
But daddy, you been on my mind

I don't mean trouble, please don't put me down, don't get upset
I am not pleading or saying, "I can't forget you"
I do not walk the floor bowed down and bent but yet
Daddy, you been on my mind

Even though my mind is hazy and my thoughts ,they might be narrow
Where you been don't bother me nor bring me down in sorrow
It don't even matter who you're waking with tomorrow
Daddy, you're just on my mind

I am not asking you to say words like yes or no
Please understand me, I'm not calling for you to go
I'm just breathing to myself, pretending not that I don't know
That daddy, you been on my mind

When you wake up in the morning, baby, look inside your mirror
Oh, you know I won't be next to you, you know I won't be near
I'd just be curious to know if you can see yourself as clear
As someone who has had you on her mind
As someone who has had you on her mind

Song Review

The song is an absolute pleasure, that to the mind,to the ears and to the heart. To start with,it is a totally indigenous style of country music to use words such as 'Mama' or 'Daddy' not to conventionally mean that it has been written for particularly the exact relations mentioned.
I have listened to 'Mama You Been On My Mind' by Bob Dylan, which Baez changed to 'Daddy You Been On My Mind' for her 1965 album Farewell Angelina. The album itself is such a beautiful musical collection and her voice as a young lady is a softly ringing, bold, highly capable soprano which has got all the rights to win over the hearts of country music lovers.
The tune is quite monotonous in case of both the songs (that by Bob Dylan and Baez) but in Joan's voice and on being accorded with more organised instrumentals,it sounds much better than the Bob Dylan version. However, about the lyrics, all credits go to Dylan and yes, this is the very reason you can love a man for : lyrics. How perfect, how amusingly amazing the song is because of the lyrics.Except that the tune could have had a little more variation (though simplicity is almost like a characteristic feature of country music worldwide) but still,I think it would have sounded even better.
About everything else, though, including the lyrics, instrumentals, voice,my thirst is quenched and that after quite a long while. The reverberating, almost injurious pain feels very real and I am satisfied, more than satisfied about the song.I think you just have to listen to this once if you like western country music or are a Dylan or Baez or Seegar fan.You will,no doubts, fall in love with the song.

Lyrics - 5/5 (I wish I could give a 15/5)
Melody - 4/5
Instrumentals - 5/5
The Voice Behind - 5/5

As A Song - {(19/20) * 100%} = 95%
